Cedar Point Federal Credit Union was organized in August 1945 for the purpose of “promoting thrift among its members and to provide a source of low cost credit.” We are a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative, committed to actively serving our members and our community. We aim to treat all of our members, our staff and our neighbors with respect and dignity and always try to offer honest, fair rates to every member, every time. We deliver a range of products to our members and potential members that reflect their various needs and diversity, and strive to better reach those members of our community who may be underserved. We endeavor always to demonstrate the value of being a member of Cedar Point Federal Credit Union.
We work to communicate the unique role of member-owned financial cooperatives to our members, our legislators, and our community so they can understand the benefits of credit union membership. We endeavor to help every member achieve financial self-sufficiency and success by educating our members on the value of saving, and of good credit.
Cedar Point Federal Credit Union is operated in compliance with the laws and regulations that govern the credit union movement and with our mission statement:
- The mission of Cedar Point Federal Credit Union is to provide the opportunity for members to save and to borrow money at fair and reasonable rates of interest and offer other cost-effective financial services to meet our members' special needs. Our credit union is a not-for-profit, financial cooperative that provides a wide range of convenient, low cost financial services to our owner/members. Cedar Point shall strive to be perceived as the most desirable financial institution in the community, becoming the "One Stop Financial Center" for our members
Cedar Point Federal Credit Union strives to offer services that meet the financial needs of every member, and to return the profits from those services to our member-owners in the form of higher dividends and lower rates. We endeavor to offer these services with low or no fees wherever possible.
Cedar Point Federal Credit Union is committed to the financial education of our members and our community. This commitment extends not only to our members financial well being but to their understanding of the benefits of credit union membership, its philosophy and its values.
Some of the many ways we use to educate our members are:
Cedar Point Federal Credit Union is committed to the democratic principals that are the basis of the credit union movement. We encourage the involvement and participation of all our members.
Our Board of Directors is made up of member volunteers who have been nominated by our members and duly elected during our Annual Meeting. This meeting takes place in a centrally located venue so that all our members can participate. An open discussion at the annual meeting gives our members an opportunity to voice their interests and their concerns.
Our staff is available via phone at 301-863-7071 or 800-201-1647 or email as well as at our branch offices to answer our members questions. All suggestions for additions or improvements to our services are fully investigated in consideration of all our members.
Cedar Point Federal Credit Union is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We endeavor to always hire the most qualified staff to meet our members needs regardless of race, sex, religion, age, national origin, color, marital status, or any other status protected by state and/or federal laws.
Cedar Point Federal Credit Union is an Equal Opportunity Lender

Cedar Point is committed to actively advocating the credit union difference at all levels of government and in other appropriate public forums. We participate in various local , state and national cooperative activities. We will work to build and strengthen the credit union movement by providing support and encouragement to others within the movement. Some of the activities we are involved in include:
W.W.II Veteran's Memorial - As a member of the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) we are involved in a nationwide effort to raise funds for the National W.W.II Memorial. This effort is very special to many members of our community. It’s a way to say “Thanks” to some very special people.
Paramount Baptist Church Federal Credit Union - This small credit union was able to purchase a new computer with our help.
Credit Union's for Kids- Over the years Cedar Point has participated in many fundraising activities as a part of this important CU League activity. Among the programs we have participated in are:
- Go Casual for Kids

Cedar Point Federal Credit Union believes that the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People" extends not only to our members but also to our community. In addition to our banding together to help one another, member to member, Cedar Point does many things to help the people of our community. The following are only a few examples of our efforts:
Activities:
St. Mary's National Little League - Cedar Point has sponsored the "Eagles" Little League team since 1988.
Children's Safety Day - We open our doors to the children of the community and invite the Department of Public Safety at Patuxent Naval Air Station to fingerprint the children and teach them about Bike Safety. Local merchants also join us to inspect the children's bikes for safety.
A Season for Giving - Every year the Cedar Point Federal Credit Union collects money through a variety of fundraisers and uses that money to purchase holiday gifts for two-four families in our area. We also invite our members to join us in making someone's holiday season a little bit brighter.
Care Net Pregnancy Center Baby Bottle Blitz - Cedar Point donates the time and resources to count the buckets of change collected from the community - in 2002 over $12,000.00 in coins was counted for the non-profit organization.
