Can I really get a free credit report each year?

  • Yes. Visit www.annualcreditreport.com or call one of the three major credit bureaus. In the state of Maryland you can request a credit report from each of the credit bureaus at one time so you can compare the reported information. Or you can call one bureau at a time for the entire year basically getting a free report every four months.

Why did the credit union allow my check to be released if it was counterfeit?
  • Federal law dictates how long a financial institution can hold onto your money before making it available to you. Because of the time frame and the professionalism of counterfeit checks, funds may be made available before the crime is detected.
