Share Draft Accounts

At Cedar Point Federal Credit Union, we are committed to providing our members with products and services specifically designed to meet their financial goals. Our products and services are built for convenience. This is just one way we show our membership how much we care.

Check Out the Alternatives

If you check out the alternatives, you'll find that many financial institutions charge a fee for basic checking, and have minimum balance requirements. Not at your credit union! Your checking balance is completely up to you. There are no minimum balance requirements, or fees if your balance falls below a certain level. In addition, our fees for services such as stop payments, travelers cheques and check copies are typically lower compared to most financial institutions.

Check One

Free checking is just one advantage to Cedar Point membership. This means regardless of the number of checks you write each month, you are not charged a fee for basic checking (there are service fees for stop payments, check copies, returned checks, overdrafts and certified share drafts). Another advantage of this Cedar Point checking account is with an average daily balance of $500.00 or more your account will earn dividends while waiting for your checks to clear.

Check Protection

Sometimes overdrafts happen, even to the best of us. Protecting against these embarrassing times is a security for us all. At CPFCU, overdraft protection comes in three forms. The first comes automatically with your account. Should funds not be available to cover a check you have written, we will automatically transfer funds from your share savings account to cover the check. This type of protection can be used six times per month. Other limitations may apply.

We also have available a Personal Line of Credit specially designed for overdraft protection. Once you qualify, funds can be advanced for any unexpected emergencies. Lines of credit are available for a minimum credit limit of $300.00, and a maximum of $2,000.00. There is no annual fee and interest is charged when Line of Credit advances are made.

In addition, Cedar Point offers Overdraft Privilege for those members who qualify. With Overdraft Privilege, Cedar Point will cover your transactions up to a pre-determined amount. Beginning September 1, 2009, you must request this service.

Security Check

Your funds are insured up to $250,000.00* per member by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. Government Agency. In addition, your basic savings may act as overdraft protection for your Cedar Point Federal Credit Union Share Draft (checking) account. Should you not have enough funds in your share draft account to cover a check, funds will automatically be transferred from your share account to cover the amount of the check. You are limited to six share overdraft transfers per month.
