75th Anniversary

2020 is an important year for Cedar Point. We’re turning 75 in August! While we spend most of our time looking toward the future, we also believe in reflecting on and learning from our storied past. We were formed on base in 1945 to serve the Navy sailors and civil servants who had bravely worked to protect our shores during World War II and beyond. Many years later in 2009, to better serve Southern Maryland, we received our community charter and officially opened our doors to residents of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties.

Community Submissions

In 2020 we’re asking for your help. In celebration of our 75th Anniversary, we’re launching one of the biggest community projects we’ve ever attempted. This year Cedar Point will carry out 75 Acts of Service to honor each of our 75 years. Our goal is to make the biggest impact in our communities for those who need it most. Whether that means helping a child learn to read, providing a meal for someone who is hungry, or planting a tree for a local non-profit, we’ve got a plan.

Here’s where you come in. We’re taking community submissions for this project. If you know a person or an organization in need of volunteers, donated items and other support, please send us your submission. You can visit this page often to read all the updates on our year of giving back. Please join us as we celebrate the last 75 years and look forward to a bright future for Cedar Point, our members and our employees.

2020 Community Activity

Our employees have been working all throughout our community in 2020. Employees volunteer at Cedar Point Sponsored events like Christmas in April and the Solomons Dragon Boat Festival as well as on their personal time, helping to coach a Special Olympics basketball team, mentor students at a local high school and serving on boards and committees throughout Southern Maryland. You can tell we're proud of our employees. The best part? We can see all the smiles from those we've been able to impact with the time and funds we've donated. Check back often to see what we've been up to!

Limitations

Cedar Point Federal Credit Union is dedicated to having a positive impact in the communities we serve, including working closely with individuals and charitable organizations which make a difference in our neighborhoods through the arts, entertainment, financial education, and beautification projects. While we wish we could support every organization which sends a request, we don't have the capacity to do so. Because of this, Cedar Point cannot provide support for any of the following requests:

  • Activities, groups, or events not in a Cedar Point branch community*
  • Administrative expenses or expenses such as conference and travel
  • Religious Groups (with the exception of community events) or Political Parties, candidates, or causes

*We may choose to make exceptions for national organizations with local chapters on a case-by-case basis.

Cedar Point will make every effort to process your request in a timely manner. A decision to deny a request does not imply that the applicant's program is not needed or worthy, but simply that it does not fall within our giving guidelines, priorities, or that support is not available.

If your organization is interested in a corporate sponsorship in lieu of an Act of Service, please visit our community page for more information on sponsorships and to apply.
