Food Drive for Feed St. Mary's

October 13 - November 5

At the core of social responsibility is giving back to the community. Every year, Cedar Point strives to do this in as many ways as possible with our time, funds, and organizing power. At this time of year, many in our community are hungry, and Cedar Point stands ready to help fill tummies. To reach our goal, we have bins stationed at each branch for our members, employees and community members to donate nonperishable food items. We ask you to bring a few cans, boxes, and other nonperishables to help us fill a truck with food!

Solomons Dragon Boat Festival

Saturday, August 21, 2021 | 9a.m. - 3p.m.

Cedar Point’s rowing team, "Keep Calm and Paddle On," took to the water at the Solomons Dragon Boat Festival. This annual event supports Southern Maryland Community Resources (SMCR), a non-profit group creating opportunities for people with disabilities in Southern Maryland. We view this fundraising event as a critical contribution to our community. In fact, we have donated over $40,000 to SMCR over the past four years, acting as the event's premier sponsor. Thank you to all our employees, volunteers, and members who attended!

Christmas in April

April 2019

In April, Cedar Point employees and family members were thrilled to help a member of our community by creating a garden, mowing the lawn, replacing a porch roof, moving a safe, and filling up one dumpster and two trucks with tires, chairs, bikes, an engine block and more! We sponsored homes in Calvert and St. Mary's counties and worked personally on the home of a St. Mary's resident who had an unexpected hospital stay and wasn't able to take care of all the projects a house needs. So, we did it for him! A big thanks to all of our volunteers and all of the people at Christmas in April who made this wonderful day possible.

This yearly event is to inform the members of the progress we made the previous year, and what we have in store for the year to come. Thanks to everyone who joined us! Special thanks to our NAS PAX liaison CMDCM Kevin Guy for serving on our board. We wish him well in his next posting.

Academy of Finance Job Shadow Day

February 2019

On February 14th, the students from the Chopticon High School Academy of Finance stepped out of their daily classroom routine to spend a day in the real world. As they have for a number of years, twenty-four students spent the day visiting the Headquarters Office of Cedar Point Federal Credit Union in Lexington Park, Maryland. The students completed a tour of the credit union and then met with representatives from various departments. They learned about the many different aspects of keeping a financial institution running smoothly from what training a teller receives to the importance of continuously updating the marketing strategies and technology used by a financial institution.

Bowling with SMCR

January 2019

Employees were excited to present a check to members of Southern Maryland Community Resources (SMCR) during a night of fun and giving at a local bowling alley. The credit union is the main sponsor of SMCR’s Solomons Dragon Boat Festival, donating $10,000 and paddling in a friendly competition against other local businesses. The festival raises funds to support local programs and events for community members with developmental differences. SMCR’s January event was bowling, where credit union employees bowled alongside Special Olympics athletes and other SMCR members.
