Christmas in April
April 2019
In April, Cedar Point employees and family members were thrilled to help a member of our community by creating a garden, mowing the lawn, replacing a porch roof, moving a safe and filling up one dumpster and two trucks with tires, chairs, bikes, an engine block and more! We sponsored homes in Calvert and St. Mary's counties, and worked personally on the home of a St. Mary's resident who had an unexpected hospital stay and wasn't able to take care of all the projects a house needs. So, we did it for him! A big thanks to all of our volunteers and all of the people at Christmas in April who made this wonderful day possible.

Academy of Finance Job Shadow Day
February 2019
On February 14th, the students from the Chopticon High School Academy of Finance stepped out of their daily classroom routine to spend a day in the real world. As they have for a number of years, twenty-four students spent the day visiting the Headquarters Office of Cedar Point Federal Credit Union in Lexington Park, Maryland. The students completed a tour of the credit union and then met with representatives from various departments. They learned about the many different aspects of keeping a financial institution running smoothly from what training a teller receives to the importance of continuously updating the marketing strategies and technology used by a financial institution.

Bowling with SMCR
January 2019
Employees were excited to present a check to members of Southern Maryland Community Resources (SMCR) during a night of fun and giving at a local bowling alley. The credit union is the main sponsor of SMCR’s Solomons Dragon Boat Festival, donating $10,000 and paddling in a friendly competition against other local businesses. The festival raises funds to support local programs and events for community members with developmental differences. SMCR’s January event was bowling, where credit union employees bowled alongside Special Olympics athletes at and other SMCR members.
