Cedar Point Federal Credit Union® Promotes Sievers to Chief Operating Officer

2/9/2026

Cedar Point Federal Credit Union® recently promoted BJ Sievers to Chief Operating Officer. In his new position, Sievers will oversee operations for the credit union, including all branches, support and contact services, IT, and project management.

Sievers has been with Cedar Point since 2008, serving as Chief Information Officer (CIO). In that role, he has seen the credit union through many significant projects and initiatives. He led a two-year digital banking and core conversion, completed in 2024. “That was a major undertaking, and I’m still extremely proud of everyone involved and how well that team performed,” said Sievers. He has also seen the credit union grow rapidly since receiving its community charter in 2009, including the opening of several branches, the renovation of our headquarters lobby, and the establishment of a new back-office space.

“BJ’s experience as our CIO gives him a unique insight into the ever-changing financial services industry,” said Charles Roach, President/CEO of Cedar Point Federal Credit Union. “He will continue to help guide Cedar Point towards achieving its operational and member service goals.”

Sievers holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He currently serves on the Forbes Technology Council, providing expertise on various subjects within his field. He is also a 2021 graduate of Leadership of Southern Maryland’s Executive program and a Finalist for the 2024 Credit Union Times Luminaries Awards CTO/CIO of the Year.

Sievers believes that his experiences at the credit union and his time working for several defense contractors supporting Naval Air Station Patuxent River have been instrumental in his development and in preparing him for this role. He is eager to make a positive impact on employees and the membership while turning new ideas into tangible results. “I’ve been fortunate to be involved in so much during my time here as CIO, which has afforded me the opportunity to further develop my skills, especially in leadership. More than any hands-on work, the time spent working with staff, fostering relationships, and working towards a common goal has been the most valuable and will translate into continued success in this new role.”
