Maryland Tax Free-Week 2025
Maryland Tax-free week is fast approaching! Between August 10 through August 16, qualifying items will be exempt from Maryland's six percent sales tax.
Eligible items include individual clothing items and footwear priced at $100 or less, and the first $40 of backpack or book bag sales. The exemption will apply to each qualifying item sold for $100 or less, regardless of the total purchase price. Discounted items also qualify for the exemption.
Items that do not qualify for the exemption include accessory items (jewelry, watches, handbags, ties, headbands, etc.), items over $100, and any specialty clothing or footwear designed for protective use or not intended for everyday use (Football pads, cleats, etc.). Additionally, taxable services like alterations or items used to make or repair clothing, such as fabric or thread, do not fall under the tax exemption.
Please check with retailers on their general return, exchange, and refund policies. Click here for a quick guide to Maryland tax-free week.
If you're looking to get some clothing shopping for the new school year, take advantage of the opportunity to save a little cash by doing it tax-free!
